The Fish! chain of restaurants is accelerating rollout between now and October 2002.

The six restaurants will grow to 28. Ten will open by this October and another 12 during the next year.

New outlets are currently being completed in Leeds, West Yorkshire and in the Kings Road, Putney and Blackheath, London.

The company, previously known as BGR, announced annual pre-tax profit down from £2.4m to £2.2m on continuing business turnover up from £12.72m to £12.84m. Total group turnover climbed 10% to £21m.

Restaurant division turnover before discontinued activities grew 53% to £11.6m. Operating profit in the division climbed from £1.7m to £2.5m.

Outlets at Battersea, Canary Riverside and County Hall followed. Its first provincial restaurant opened in Guildford, Surrey and Birmingham, in the West Midlands, opened in November.

Tony Allan, the company's chairman, said all Fish! restaurants had become profitable within two months.
