The Mail on Sunday has obtained documents detailing the fines wines and liqueurs drunk at Government banquets and receptions. Ministers have downed £200 bottles of Bordeaux and the finest champagne and port at £90 a bottle during Gordon Brown’s premiership, despite the anticipation that Whitehall would be a more sober place with the Presbyterian’s arrival in the hot seat. There has been no let-up in either the consumption or purchase of fine wines for functions. The Mail on Sunday 23/12/07 page 32
