The London Ambulance Service has launched a treatment centre and a dedicated “booze bus” to deal with alcohol-related injuries over the Christmas period. The centre has been set up beside Platform 10 at Liverpool Street station and will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm to 3am until New Year’s Day. Paramedics will also run a specific ambulance service for people who have drunk excessively and if patients can’t be helped in the temporary centre they will be taken to hospital. In Birmingham five centres have been set up to deal with alcohol-related incidents and a similar service was trialled in Leeds last year.
