Exclusive Inns, the fledgling pub company led by former Enterprise Inns director Philip Griffiths, has secured its second site. The firm has bought the freehold of the Anchor Inn at Nayland, Suffolk, for an undisclosed sum. It follows the acquisition of its first pub, the Angel Inn at nearby Stoke by Nayland, last year. Christie + Co handled the sale of both pubs. The company is now eyeing expansion. Griffiths, who was the senior divisional director at Enterprise between 1999 and 2008, said: “Exclusive Inns has a highly experienced management team with over 30 years background in the industry. The company’s corporate strategy is to acquire, develop and operate a portfolio of exclusive pub and country inn businesses in selected areas in the south of England. “We look for both high profile and successful sites where we believe we can genuinely add value, but we also buy failed or poorly performing sites that satisfy our location and demographic requirements in areas such as Suffolk, the Cotswolds, the Home Counties and the London area.” Sister company Exclusive Locations operates the Sail Lofts boutique self catering accommodation and spa in St Ives, Cornwall. Christie + Co director Bill Colquhoun, who handled the sale, said: “We are delighted to have acquired the Anchor Inn for Exclusive Inns and believe it to be a perfect fit to suit their company ethos and also in terms of location to complement the stunning Angel Inn.”
