A former head chef at Nobu is to launch a new authentic sushi concept called Yashin in Kensington, London. Yasuhiro Mineno has joined up with designer Junichi Ogura, after taking on the leasehold interest of the former Lebanese Diner on Argyll Road. The offer will focus on authentic Japanese style sushi, moving away from the ‘fusion’ sushi offered by many outlets. Ogura will re-style the restaurant with a modern and Victorian interior, and chefs Mineno and Shinya Ikeda, also a director of the new company, will serve pared-down sushi from behind a counter. The new restaurant occupies 1,200 sq ft with space for 65 covers across a ground floor and basement. Property agents Davis Coffer Lyons handled the disposal of the lease.
