The booming British wine industry could face drastic curbs as Brussels prepares to tackle European-wide overproduction and reduce France's "wine lake".
Britain's 300 vineyards are too small to receive EU subsidies but total production must be kept below 3.3m bottles a year. That figure is likely to be surpassed within five years if demand continues to grow.
