Enterprise Inns is back on the hunt following its £115m acquisition of the Swallow Inns and Restaurant estate from Whitbread last Tuesday. The company, which has 2,425 outlets, is looking for further pub deals to reach its goal of 5,000-6,000 units.

Ted Tuppen, chief executive, said he planned to sell on 30-40 of the top-end managed pubs from the Swallow estate that were less suitable for conversion into tenanted premises. He envisaged a price of £1m per house and claimed to have already had expressions of interest.

Enterprise bought 183 pubs from Whitbread - 145 managed and 38 tenanted. They are mostly in the North East, Yorkshire and Lancashire.
