The Department of Health (DoH) is conducting meetings with the industry to discuss the development of a new Alcohol Strategy, writes Michelle Perrett. Trade associations have been attending the pre- consultation meetings to discuss the issues surrounding alcohol. It is thought that the Government is keen to ensure any strategy includes consideration of the pub sector and how to protect community pubs. A DoH spokesman said: “As part of our proposals to develop an alcohol strategy, we are meeting with a range of partners from health and other areas in addition to the alcohol industry. “We look forward to further engagement with our key partners in the coming months.”
