Landlords and property developers are wary of independent restaurateurs who want to expand, according to the creators of a new mid-priced French restaurant brand. Côte, created by Andy Bassadone and Chris Benians who founded the 24-strong Italian Strada chain before selling to Richard Caring in 2004, recently opened its first 88-seat outlet in Wimbledon.
