Philip Matthews, managing director of the Covent Garden Restaurant Group, has confirmed that he has appointed Deloitte to carry out a strategic review of the business. Matthews told M&C Report: “It is the perfect time to look at ideas for the business to maximise profits. “If the right offer came along we wouldn’t say no, but it is not the only option,” he said in response to rumours that he is considering a possible £25m to £30m sale of the company. The group currently owns seven brands, which it runs out of five venues, which include the Rock Garden and Gardening Club, The International late night bar, Katana restaurant, Tutton’s Brasserie and Dirty Martini that opened at the end of last year. It also owns Fire and Stone, a 240-cover gourmet pizza restaurant and plans to open a second branded site this year are still underway.
