Cooks The Bakery is set to disappear from the high street, after seven stores were sold out of administration. According to M&C Report’s sister publication British Baker, the West Midlands-based firm, a successor to the Three Cooks brand, which at one point ran 120 stores, collapsed last November and six loss-making sites were shut immediately. Out of the remaining nine, seven have now been sold to individual operators, via administrator ReSolve Partners, saving 37 jobs. The administrator has managed to sell stores in Alvechurch, Stourport, Nuneaton, Westbury, Canterbury, Horley, and Tilgate. The two remaining trading Cooks The Bakery sites are also under offer and are due to be acquired shortly. The firm ran into trouble after being hit by increased commodity costs, including flour, and a fall in consumer spending.
