Capricorn Ventures International has revealed it has taken a significant stake in Clapham House, operator of the Tootsies, The Real Greek, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Bombay Bicycle Club brands. The company, which already has a stake in Nando’s, had taken advantage of a dip in Clapham House’s share price earlier in the week to build an 11.2% holding. Some in the City believed this might prove the prelude to a full bid. Capricorn was an investor in Pizza Express, where Clapham chairman David Page was once chief executive. Shares in the company closed 0.3% higher yesterday at 189 1/2p. Financial Times 8/12/07 page 34 Companies & Markets The Times page 8/12/07 page 61
