Business investment in the UK rose at its fastest pace in more than 20 years in the first three months of this year, official data has revealed. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said business investment rose 7.8% between January and March, sharply higher than the 6% growth estimated last month and above analysts' expectations. The ONS said that was the fastest pace of growth since 1987, barring a spike several years ago caused by the reclassification of British Nuclear Fuels Limited as a public corporation. Private sector analysts said the revision could mean the economy grew faster than the 0.3% previously estimated for the first quarter.
