US restaurateur Keith Gurney is to launch a new American-style family restaurant called Brooklyn’s at New Brighton’s £60million Marine Point complex, with plans to grow the concept into a mainstream brand in the North West. Gurney, who also operates the long-established The Tavern Co Bar & Mexican BBQ in Liverpool, is investing £800,000 in the new restaurant at the seafront development. The 5,000sq ft unit overlooks the Marine Lake in New Brighton and is set to open in December. The diner is a key part of the £40m second phase of the scheme being delivered by Neptune Developments, which also includes the all-digital eight-screen cinema The Light, a new Morrisons superstore and a 66-bedroom Travelodge. Gurney said: “Neptune has revitalised the New Brighton waterfront, transforming it into a first class leisure and retail attraction for all ages. We are aiming mostly at families and children during the day and an older market, especially couples and adult groups of friends, in the evening. “Our offer will complement the new cinema complex and the neighbouring Floral Pavilion Theatre and Riverside Bowling Alley.”
