Britons on holiday abroad will drink more than 1.5 billion pints of lager this summer, according to the Sky Travel channel. Most holidaymakers will get through at least five drinks a day and spend an average of £128 on alcohol on a fortnight’s holiday, with three of the 14 days spent in bed with a hangover. The survey of 3,000 holidaymakers found that Scots were the biggest drinkers on holiday, with 70% drinking alcohol on every day of their break. Richard Turner from Sky Travel said: "People save up all year for their annual fortnight in the sun and it is inevitable that they will want to let off some steam. "Yet some tourists treat every night like it's New Year's Eve, leaving them exhausted and sorely in need of a holiday from a holiday upon their return."
