The legendary Colony Room Club is to close in December because the landlord wants to turn the building into luxury flats. A Soho landmark for artists, actors and eccentrics, the pub has hosted 60 years of booze-soaked misbehaviour, but will be forced to sell artwork on its walls to fund a move to new premises. It has its own conventions, morals, and drinking hours and Dylan Thomas is remembered for having thrown up on the carpet. The Times 06/09/08 page 4
