Police are to employ young people as 'mystery shoppers' in undercover sting operations designed to crack down on shops and bars that sell alcohol to under-age drinkers, the Government announced on Thursday. Shops and bars that are seen to be as encouraging under-age and binge drinking could be named and shamed as part of measures which aim to combat alcohol-fuelled violence. The move, ordered by David Blunkett, the Home Secretary, was announced as Home Office crime figures showed alcohol-related crime to be a serious problem nationwide.
