Michelin star winning chef Heston Blumenthal, who owns the Far Duck in Bray, Berkshire, is backing The Independent on Sunday's Sunday Lunch campaign aimed at getting British families to sit down for a meal together on at least one day a week. A generation ago, British families ate together nearly every day but now a quarter of families don't even possess a dining table. Blumenthal says his favourite Sunday lunch is tucking into roast chicken at home with wife Susanna and their three children. Ironically, perhaps, readers of The Observer voted Blumenthal's Hind's Head Hotel, just down the road from the Fat Duck, as the best spot for Sunday lunch. Second place went to the Jolly Sportsman in East Chiltington, Sussex, with the Petersham Nurseries Café, in Richmond, Surrey, third.
