The BII has launched a new training course to ensure new entrants to the pub industry fully understand the complexities of the leased and tenanted model. The trade organisation said that its pre-entry awareness training (PEAT) was an interactive e-learning package designed to “highlight the main issues to be considered and investigated before a tenancy or lease agreement is signed.” PEAT has been developed in response to the report from the Business Innovation and Skills Committee on the pub company model to deliver the pre-entry training requirement outlined in the Pub Industry Framework Code of Practice. Neil Robertson, chief executive of BII, said: “This is a very important step for the industry and is one of the reasons why we signed up to the Code. But, most importantly, this training will save tenants and lessees money.”
