A ban on “all you can drink” promotions comes into force today across the UK’s pubs and bars. The new mandatory code will see pubs banned from running some drinks deals such as all-inclusives and the “dentist’s chair” from 6 April. From 1 October, asking ID from anyone who appears underage and offering smaller drinks measures will be compulsory, also. The code has attracted criticism from pubs body the British Beer & Pub Association, which believes it to be “untargeted” and has warned that it will place a “disproportionate burden” on the responsible majority.
