Starbucks is testing a music download service for its 40m-a-day customers that would rival Apples iTunes. People would be able to download tracks from a wireless internet connection as they sip their coffees. The system is being trialled at three Hear Music Coffeehouses in Texas, California and Florida. Each has a "media bar" that offers a million digital songs, in addition to 10,0000 CD titles. Chairman Howard Schultz is considering expanding the idea to other markets, including the UK.
