The government is proposing a blanket ban on consumption on alcoholic drinks on public transport.
The controversial measure is being drawn up by Tony Blair's Whitehall "Respect Unit" as part of a raft of measures to combat so-called "anti-social behaviour". Civil servants have apparently already advised against implementing such a plan.
