The Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) has published a business plan to show how it will boost economic growth over the next four years. Among the six reform priorities, the government has pledged to create the conditions for growth in the tourism, media, leisure, creative and cultural institutions by "stripping away red tape" and stimulating private sector investment. As part of that pledge, DCMS indicated it would work with VisitEngland to "improve existing consumer feedback platforms, by enhancing rating and star grading systems for accommodation and attractions". The work will start in December this year and is targeted to finish in March 2012. It also plans to reform VisitEngland to help bring more industry expertise on to its board. The move is part of a government reform programme that will see every department give details of its priorities and allow the public to keep track of how close it is to meeting them.
