The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) was set to launch the first in a series of roadshows designed to help licensees with the new Licensing Act. They will offer practical advice and support to licensees facing the changeover to a new licensing system. Demand for this year's events, which will follow the same format as the sold-out 2003 events, is high and many are already fully booked. The first will take place on 18 May in Rotherham, with six more to follow. The BII said it was keen to help publicans make the most of the new system. John McNamara, chief executive, said: "Following the sell-out shows last year our members told us they wanted more of the same and we hope this year's events will offer even more practical advice and guidance to help make the changeover to the new licensing regime as smooth as possible for our industry. "Our pledge to our members is to offer the support they need to help make their businesses thrive in today's competitive pub trade and we intend to keep on doing that through events like these."
