In partnership with Deliveroo Editions, Bacardi is to launch a ‘virtual bar’ platform which will enable bars to deliver cocktails to consumers in London and Manchester.

As part of the brand’s #RaiseYourSpirits initiative, it will allow 120 operators from across both cities to use the platform as of 16 April as a way to continue operations through the coronavirus lockdown.

Focusing on smaller, independent businesses without corporate backup, the brand has said it will aim to understand the particular needs of each of its partners, and how it can best accommodate them.

“Our strong relationships with bars and bartenders in the UK is incredibly important to us, and as we face the current challenges together, we’re doing all we can to provide the support they need,” said Amanda Almond, managing director of Bacardi UK and Ireland.

“We have 158 years experience of overcoming crises and coming out fighting, and through our #RaiseYourSpirits initiative, we intend to de exactly that for our On-Trade partners.”

Looking to the future, as part of the initiative Bacardi has also promised to hire bartenders for its future events and paying them in advance.

It has also said it intends to buy cocktail vouchers and prepay for post-lockdown events.
