Novus Leisure is to continue the roll-out of Lucky Voice, the private room karaoke venture, with a launch at its Tiger Tiger bar in Cardiff, M&C Report has learned. The group has invested £500,000 in developing six Lucky Voice Pods inside the Welsh Tiger Tiger site, which will each have a capacity for between eight and 16 people. As part of plans to roll-out the karaoke brand across its nine-strong Tiger Tiger estate, Lucky Voice Pods will also be unveiled at the Leeds and Newcastle sites at the beginning of 2009. David Lodge, the Novus’ development director, said: “The figures for the existing Lucky Voice in Manchester are good, hence we are doing more. “It is a good brand, which is still in its infancy and needs more brand awareness, but we have got the cash and we are looking to grow the concept.” Lodge said that the group was also actively looking for more sites to open new Tiger Tiger bars, but admitted that it was a volatile market at the moment, which could slow things down. Novus entered into a partnership in May 2007 with Lucky Voice, which was founded by Nick Thistleton in Soho, to open the concept within its Tiger Tiger sites, with the first launched in Manchester’s Printworks a year ago. The company, which is led by Steve Richards, is also looking to expand its Abbey premium bar concept, which it opened in the Minories in the City of London in mid-April. Lodge said that the group believed that the two-floor venue, which comprises a basement bar and dining area, could be expanded to between 20 and 30 new sites over the next few years and would also work on a bigger scale.
