Subway, the fast-growing sandwich chain, opened its 750th outlet in the UK this week. Sites in Northampton and southwest London shared the distinction of being the company’s 750th restaurant, after opening at the same time on 17 September. The group has already opened another seven sites in the last five days taking its current total to 757. A Subway spokesman said the last week had been “exceptional” for new openings, and that the company was on course to open its 800th restaurant before the end of 2006. The company plans to open 2,010 outlets by 2010.
