Sleep pods, originally developed in New York to offer naps to stressed-out city workers, have now appeared in the heart of London. Two investment bankers have opened Shed, an exclusive private members club near Bank Tube station. It opened a month ago and membership costs £625 a year. Guests can have a "powernap" in one of the sleep pods before taking a shower to freshen up and returning to the office. There is also a drawing room, bar, library and restaurant. Co-founder Nigel Mitchell, the former head of Chase de Vere, describes it as informal and contemporary. The cubbyhole beds, he says, are a place to recharge batteries.
