Domino’s Pizza, the pizza delivery business, is to launch a new food court concept at Eastgate Shopping Centre in Essex, M&C Report understands. The new concept, which is set to open at the Basildon-based scheme in December, will have a more “rustic” feel than the group’s delivery outlets, with wood panelling featured and will also include its own seating in the food court area It is thought that if successful the group, which has been developing the new format since the start of the year, will look to open further sites under the concept. The move in another step in the group’s stated ambition of exploring opportunities in non-traditional trading areas. The 702-strong chain is in process of increasing it presence in the UK and last month announced plans to open a site inside a Tesco store in the West Midlands. It hasn’t ruled out opening further in-store sites under the new link up with the supermarket group. Earlier this year, the company opened its first roadside site in conjunction with motorway services operator Moto Hospitality on the M4. It will eventually open up to 43 sites on Britain’s motorways under the agreement.
