Only three potential bidders are still in the race to buy the Lanson champagne house. They are French private equity firm Butler Capital, businessman Jean-Claude Darmon and champagne maker Boizel Chanoine. Lanson has annual sales of Eu400m on volume of 18million bottles and has some 50million bottles in stock. Bankers acting for the owners - the Mora family and savings bank Caisses d'Epargne - hope to close the sale before Christmas. The Business 4/12/05 page 7
