Kirin reported a 16% fall in half-year operating profit to Yen37.53m (£190,000), blaming bad weather and unfavourable comparisons to strong demand last year. Revenue for the period was Yen740.28bn, down 2.5% on the year. The company has lowered its annual operating profit forecast to Yen110bn from a previous projection of Yen111bn. Kazuhiro Sato, the company’s managing director, said: "Domestic beer demand sank in the first quarter, and that had a major impact. We aim to recover from it for the rest of the year, but we concluded we cannot recover all of it."
