Intercontinental Hotels is selling off its 47.5% stake in Britvic because it no longer sees the soft drinks giant as a significant part of its hotels business.
But the company denies that the sale has anything to do with its planned organic growth of 50,000 to 60,000 hotel rooms over the next three years.
Intercontinental insists it is not considering acquisitions although Whitbread's 300 Premier Travel Inn budget hotels may fit well.
