Beverage Brands UK, the drink producer whose brands include WKD, has reported a 10.8% fall in pre-tax profits to £17.5m in 2011. Turnover fell 4.9% to £126.5m. The company said: “The directors consider that, in the light of prevailing economic and market conditions, both the results for the period and the prospects for the future are satisfactory.” Operating profit declined 16.7% to £15.5m. Despite the decline, parent company SHS Group, which incorporates 11 companies in Britain and Ireland including drinks and food producers and bottle manufacturers, saw pre-tax profits rise 6.3% to £25.8m. Group turnover grew 16% to £430.2m for SHS, which called the performance “satisfactory”. Meanwhile, cider producer Merrydown, also part of SHS Group, saw pre-tax profits remain roughly stable at £5.2m on turnover up 7.9% to £42.4m.
