Three quarters of consumers in the UK believe that the recession has had a negative impact on their lifestyle, according to a new survey. Six out of ten also believe that it is going to get worse before it gets better – sending the UK into a double dip recession. The depressed state was revealed in a GfK NOP survey of 1,000 adults. It said that fears over the 20% VAT rate, due in January, had also affected the UK consumer Ivan Browne, of GfK NOP, said it was ironic that fears over a double dip recession could make the event a self-fulfilling prophecy.
