Starbucks has reported a 21% rise in consolidated net revenues to $617m (£323m) for the four weeks to 27 August. On a comparable store sales basis, sales at company-operated stores increased by 5%. Jim Donald, Starbucks’ president and chief executive, said: “In August, we continued to deliver strong revenue and comparable store sales growth in line with our growth targets. "The increase in comparable store sales was driven by the popularity of our handcrafted beverages as well as a strong contribution from food in both additional lunch locations and enhanced offerings." For the 47 weeks ended 27 August consolidated net revenues were $7.0bn, an increase of 22% on the year. Comparable store sales increased by 7% on the year.
